Who in your agency needs a brokers license?

Legislation that changing the requirements for who needs a brokers license was signed by the Governor on March 2, 2016, effective immediately.

H 4660 is IIABSC-initiated legislation, supported by other insurance carriers, and allows licensed producers to offer surplus lines insurance coverages without having to have their own brokers licenselong as the producer is accessing the surplus lines coverage through a licensed broker.

While some producers currently holding a brokers license may not be required to continue it, IIABSC urges caution before non-renewing current licenses. IIABSC has prepared an explanatory opinion for members; members can download it from the bill's legislative report page (you must be logged in).
