Certified Insurance Counselor designation program
CIC offers practical and relevant knowledge to keep professionals more competitive in meeting the changing needs of clients and the industry. To earn the CIC designation, participants attend five institutes (list below with course descriptions) and pass a closed-book exam after each. To maintain the designation, particpants must annually attend at least one program sanctioned by The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. No testing is required to maintain the designation.

The Commercial Property Institute explores innovative ways to maximize coverage for various types of commercial property accounts. Focus is on the major commercial property forms and endorsements.
The Personal Lines Institute addresses the unique needs of individuals and their families and tackles the complexities of state-specific personal lines forms.
Several CIC scholarships are available that cover the registration fee of one SC institute next year. Available to any licensed agent or broker, or any individual who has a minimum of two years full-time experience as a practitioner in insurance or risk management. Not for those who already hold the CIC designation.
