South Carolina qualifier for Big "I" National Championship

National Tournament on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC
After four rounds, our SC boys div. champion Jonathan Griz tied for 5th place in the Big "I" Trusted Choice National Championship on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC. Our SC girls division champion Elle Johnson tied for 6th place with SC's Jensen Castle, who qualified to play in the national tournament by finishing in the Top 10 in last year's championship. Also in the Top 10 of his division was Levi Moody from Greenville, SC.

​​​​(Orangeburg, SC)   Jonathan Griz, 14, of Hilton Head, S.C., and Elle Johnson, 17, of Inman, S.C. each topped their respective divisions in the SC qualifier of the Trusted Choice Big "I" National Championship junior golf tournament held June 25 – 26 at the Orangeburg Country Club in Orangeburg, S.C. Griz finished the second day eight under with a total score of 136. Johnson finished with 147.

After a two-hole playoff, second place of the boys division went to Chad Carter, 18, of Aiken, S.C., who finished with a final score of 148. Third-place went to Austin Mosher, 16, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., also with a final score of 148. 

Second place of the girls division went to Smith Knaffle, 16, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., with a final score of 152.

All five teens will advance to the Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship held Aug. 6-9 this summer at the Daniel Island Golf Club in Charleston, SC, and hosted by South Carolina independent insurance agents. They will be joined by Dillon Hite, 17, of Lexington, S.C., who also qualified to play the national tournament in the boys division. 

Nationally, at least 3,000 boys and girls play in more than 300 local and state-qualifying tournaments organized by nearly 2,000 independent insurance agents. Visit their website (​) for a history of this tournament.

The state qualifier is a community-servic​e project sponsored by the SC Trusted Choice Agents, whose members are small-business owners who operate independently of insurance companies, representing more than one company and selling all types of insurance. As a result, IIABSC members offer their clients a wider choice of auto, home, business, life and health insurance products.​​
