Successful independent insurance agencies in today’s marketplace can’t continue to do business and find customers “like they’ve always done it”. Today’s insurance customer is connected and informed. They are empowered with information and are looking to interact with product and service providers BEFORE making a purchasing decision. How can agencies satisfy the needs of today’s consumers while still working effectively and efficiently? This session will provide attendees with some valuable tools to use to in order to keep up in today’s competitive marketplace.

Did your mother ever tell you “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”  This course takes that approach to understanding the best way to never have an ethical dilemma is to focus on building an organization where an ethical breach would never take place.  We will also discuss the challenges of having a remote workforce and keeping them engaged with your organization’s culture.

Speaker Bios:

G. Frank Sheppard, AAI CAE, President, IIABSC
Frank Sheppard has been the president of IIABSC since 2006. He joined the Big “I” staff in 1992 with a number of different roles including member services, communications, events, membership development and government affairs.

Prior to joining IIABSC, he was an independent agent with the Goldsmith-Theodore Agency in Columbia. Frank began his insurance career with Nationwide Insurance Company as an adjuster in Columbia and Greenville and was a Marketing Underwriter with Marsh & McLennan Companies in Washington, DC before moving back to Columbia. He is a native of Laurens, SC and a graduate of The Citadel.


Rebecca H. McCormack, CIC, CPCU, AAI, AINS, Senior Vice President, IIABSC
Becky McCormack is the Senior Vice President of IIABSC. She began her insurance career in 1984 after graduating from the University of SC with a double major in Insurance & Economic Security and Business Management. Before joining IIABSC in 1996, Becky’s background included agency and broker experience, as well as eight years as a Commercial Lines Underwriter and Marketing Representative for The Travelers Insurance Company. Becky instructs a variety of insurance continuing education seminars including our CISR modules, AAI seminars and the Dynamics of Service seminar. She currently serves as Chair of the SC Continuing Education Advisory Board for the SCDOI.


Terry Tadlock, CIC, CPCU, CRIS, President, Correll Insurance Group  
Terry is a 40-year veteran of the insurance industry. He joined the Correll Insurance Group of agencies as the President of Coastal Plains Insurance, LLC (CPI) and South East Coastal Underwriters (SECU) in beautiful Hilton Head Island, SC. Terry is part owner and responsible for the day to day operations of CPI and SECU. Prior to Terry’s joining CPI he was owner and CEO of Florida Insurance Educators, Inc., an insurance education and consulting firm that in conjunction with Florida Insurance School worked with state and national organizations providing a variety of educational courses and consulting services.
Terry is also recognized by Federal and State courts as an expert on insurance coverages and serves as an expert witness.  Terry holds a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and is a National Faculty Member of the Society and the Educational Consultant for North Carolina.
