NCCI adds agent/broker sessions to educational conference

CE credits available to SC agents

The National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) have added an Agent & Brokers track of sessions to their Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference to be held August 23-26, in Orlando. Sessions have been filed for P&C credit hours for SC agents. (Download and view full event registration brochure for conference details.)

This cutting edge series of educational offerings begins with an overview of the current and anticipated workers’ compensation marketplace as only NCCI, the designated rating organization in a majority of states, is in a position to provide.

Obtaining coverage for work-related injuries is mandatory in most states. This coverage requirement can be met through a variety of sources including obtaining an insurance policy, self-insuring, or obtaining coverage through alternate methods such as participating in a Professional Employer Organization (PEO). Each of these mechanisms for obtaining workers’ compensation protection will be discussed with emphasis on ratemaking, premium or assessment determination methodologies and overall regulatory oversight.

Of particular interest to all stakeholders in the workers’ compensation system is a complete understanding of NCCI’s procedures (adopted in whole or in part by states) for calculating rates for employer classification codes (in general) and particular employers within those class codes (experience modification calculation).  No matter your industry role, it is essential to have a complete appreciation of your part in affecting ultimate costs and understanding NCCI’s processes for determining those cost calculations. The sessions in this breakout are designed to provide in-depth information on how cost calculations are made.

Now in its 70th year, the Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (#WCEC2015) is the must-attend event for C-level executives, risk managers, claims adjusters, insurers and medical and legal experts. Presented by the Workers’ Compensation Institute, the conference offers attendees an extraordinary opportunity to connect with their peers and learn from nationally recognized experts.
