Young Agents programs
Supporting & developing our industry’s future leaders
Young Agents are defined as those among our agency members who are either 40 years or younger OR have been in the industry 5 years or less. Our programs are targeted to meet the needs and interests of our Young Agents, though all our events are open to agents and partners of all ages.
To be included on our program mailing list (below) you must meet the definition of a Young Agent. They receive communications regarding upcoming Young Agents events, member engagement opportunities & special CE opportunities in your area. Those who are also Big I SC members receive discounted registration pricing in addition to the regular agency
For those who do not qualify but still want to participate, we promote all our Young Agent activities in our AGENT NEWS newsletter for members.

Our spring golf tournament raises money for the IIABSC Young Agents Scholarship Fund to support educational leadership and networking opportunities for young agent members of IIABSC.
Our tournament is for anyone who wants to play, it’s not just for young agents, nor is it just for insurance industry professionals. Sponsorship opportunities (including hole sponsors) are also available.
Since its inception in 1993, the Young Agents Committee has raised more than $25,000 to provide CIC and CISR scholarships, general education classes, sponsorships for IIABSC young agents to attend the IIABA National Legislative Conference, and financial assistance with Young Agents events and conferences.
Our annual Young Agents Conference focuses on the professional development of the up-and-coming young insurance agents within the state. This conference offers a packed agenda providing agents with relevant industry knowledge, quality tools, best practices and more. Sponsorships opportunities are available as well as a limited-space Marketplace showcase featuring Palmetto Partners only.

Every year our South Carolina Young Agents set up local networking Happy Hour receptions around the state. These events are FREE for agents of all ages! There are food, drinks, giveaways and good times with fellow Big I agents, industry leaders and event sponsors.
The GIVE MOVEMENT campaign is led by the SC Young Agents to encourage Independent agencies, companies, partners and industry friends across the state to join together and GIVE back to our Trusted Choice Community Partner, Make-A-Wish South Carolina.
Since the program launched in 2020, Give Movement supporters have helped grant more than 10 life-changing wishes for South Carolina Wish Children battling critical and life-threatening illnesses.
Participation continues until the end of the year. Find TOP GIVERS, check ceremony photos and donation links on our event page.

A huge part of our leadership training includes educating our Young Agents on the political process and how to participate in grassroots action first, by knowing who their representatives are and then by calling them up!
We have a Legislative 101 session each year at our summer conference, a Day at the State House in the spring to call on their state representatives, as well as scholarships for the chance to attend our National Legislative Conference and call upon the South Carolina Congressional Delegation in Washington, DC.

YOUNG AGENT OF THE YEAR AWARD
This recognition is given each year at our Annual Convention to a young agent (age 40 or younger) who, in the opinion of the judges, has rendered outstanding service to his or her community outside the field of insurance and has also contributed to the betterment of our industry. View nomination form and deadlines on our Awards page.

INSURPAC CHAMPIONS
For the past seven years, our Young Agents have been recognized by our national association for raising the most funds for InsurPac than any other state young agents program. We include InsurPac in our Legislative 101 session at Young Agents Conference as part of any successful government affairs program. Our Young Agent committee members realize they are the best messengers for those training to enter the workforce on what a great career insurance can be. Being early in their own careers, they are also the best models of what industry newbies can expect. Our committee has been visiting high schools throughout the state and presenting some insurance basics that all consumers should know as well as the many career paths available to them within the industry.
The Big I SC Young Agents also hosted risk-management students from Appalachian State University at the IIABSC Annual Convention in the Fall as well as students from University of South Carolina at their recent Spring Conference providing those students with access to a wide network of independent agencies and industry partners for potential internships and future job opportunities.
