RLI In-Home Business

Is an E&O claim lurking in your homeowners policies?

Home-based business owners are susceptible to losses just like any other business owners. Many discover that their homeowner’s policy contains exclusions for business pursuits—but usually not until after they have suffered a loss.

RLI’s In Home Business policy, available to offer clients through your IIABSC membership, responds to the needs of over 100 eligible business classes on an ISO BOP form.

It offers comprehensive coverage for business personal property (both on-premises and while temporarily off-premises), along with up to $1 million in business general liability protection. Loss of business income coverage and medical payments are also included.

Premiums starting at $150, competitive commissions, easy underwriting and a self-rating application should make this product an easy sell.

FREE marketing materials are available to help advertise these RLI products to your clients (brochures, flyers, posters, buckslips, letter & newsletter templates, etc.).

How to Quote and Submit New Business Online

You can now use your RLI Portal login to quote and submit Home Business policies entirely online, which is significantly faster than mailing a submission with a check. Policies can often be issued the same day.

  1. Log in at (See note below about logins.)
  2. Click “Home Business” at the top of the page to get to the Home Business community page.
  3. Go to the RLink 360 box and click Launch
  4. Click New Application, Home Business Insurance, and then Full Quote.

This will take you through the application questions online and will give you the option to have RLI email the customer to pay online via credit card or ACH. You can instead have that email sent to your agency if you want to pay on the customer’s behalf.

RLI will underwrite, email for payment, and then bind coverage once payment is posted. You will then need to upload a signed RLI application or email it to your state administrator (see below).

If you need a login or need login assistance, contact the South Carolina RLI Administrator.
