The U.S. Small Business Administration has awarded Owens Insurance Agency the 2014 South Carolina Small Office/Home Office of the year. The honor is awarded to a small business with 15 or fewer employees that has demonstrated outstanding growth, innovation, and community involvement.

Founded in 1952, by Greer native Don Owens, Owens Insurance Agency, began as a small main street agency providing home and auto insurance to Greer area residents. In 1993, Don’s son Riley, bought the agency and began to offer business owners of the Upstate another source for there commercial insurance needs. The company also is licensed in they are licensed in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.​​
