Beginning in January 2017, all producers will be required to submit fingerprints as part of their license renewal process. It will also be required on all NEW producer license applications. 

Fingerprinting will allow the DOI to complete a statewide criminal background check with SLED and a national criminal background check with the FBI. Additionally, once fingerprint records are on file, new criminal charges for licensed insurance producers will automatically be reported to the DOI. 

The SC Department of Insurance has issued Bulletin 2016-10, which outlines the process for obtaining and submitting fingerprint records.

Producers are urged not to delay in getting their fingerprints done as appointments fill up fast.
