IIABSC's GIVE MOVEMENT activities were recognized for its impact to South Carolina communities by the South Carolina Society of Association Executives (SCSAE) at their annual meeting held earlier this summer in Spartanburg, SC. Vice President Megan Huebner was installed on the association's executive committee, and former President Frank Sheppard was also recognized for a lifetime of service to the association.
The GIVE MOVEMENT, currently in its fifth year, is a statewide initiative led by our SC Young Agents and encourages all independent agents, affiliates and partners (as well as customers, neighbors and friends) to come together for the chance to give back to an incredibly inspirational and worthy cause. For the past five years our collective efforts have benefitted Make-A-Wish South Carolina to grant wishes for South Carolina children battling critical and life-threatening illnesses. In that time we have raised nearly $150,000 to grant 20 wishes.
The SCSAE Impact South Carolina Award is awarded for outstanding achievement by an association and its members to implement a project or initiative that benefits the company or local charitable organization.
Former IIABSC President Frank Sheppard was recognized for his contributions to the state association management industry with an lifetime Honorary Membership. This rare membership status is available to retiring association executives who have made a substantial contribution to the Society and who have been a member for at least 10 years. Honorary membership must be recommended by the Board of Directors and approved by a majority of the regular members.
Frank is an SCSAE Past President, was named SCSAE Executive of the Year in 2014 and was the inaugural recipient of the SCSAE Presidents Award recognizing members who have stood out in their service to the association as well as the whole state association management industry.
IIABSC Vice President Megan Huebner was elected and installed as President-Elect on the Executive Committee of the SCSAE Board of Directors. It is a one-year term.
