Jon Jensen of Correll Insurance Group in Spartanburg, SC, was installed as 2019-20 IIABA chairman on Saturday, Sept. 14 during the Big I" Fall Leadership Conference in Savannah, Ga.
Jensen says a hallmark of his chairmanship will be promoting the perpetuation of the insurance industry. Our industry is truly a noble career," he noted during his installation address. We need to keep talking about how we bring more people into our industry, but we also need to start talking more and more about why they need and should want to be a part of it. We need to share all the rewards it has provided us and can provide them."
Jensen is president of Correll Insurance Group, headquartered in Spartanburg, S.C. He has long been a leader in the South Carolina agent and business community, serving on committees of the South Carolina Department of Insurance and as chairman of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of South Carolina. He also served as South Carolina director on the Big "I" National Board of Directors. At the national level, Jensen is past national chairman of the InsurPac Board of Trustees and past chairman of the Government Affairs Committee.
He is a past recipient of a Big I" Chairman's Award and the Sidney O. Smith Award, the highest governmental affairs award given by the association. On the state level he was named SC Young Agent of the Year in 1998 and the Hayne P. Glover SC Agent of the Year in 2002. Coincidentally, the Agent of the Year award in South Carolina is named for the only other South Carolinian to serve as chairman of the national association Hayne Glover of Greenville, who served as national president in 1961..
Jensen is an active leader and philanthropist in his community. He serves on various boards, including the Spartanburg Regional Health System Foundation Cancer Division, SRHSF Grants and Allocation Committee, and is a founding member of its Legacy Society. Jensen is a graduate of Appalachian State University's insurance executive program.
