Another NY cyber deadline approaching Feb. 15

Agents doing business in NY State must file annual certification of compliance, re-file exemptions

The next big deadline for the NY cyber regulation (23 NYCRR 500) is Feb 15, 2019. Agents (both resident and non-resident NY licensees) must file an ANNUAL certification of compliance (must be completed annually) AND re-file any exemptions for which they qualify by February 15.

Due to a change in their online system, the DFS is requiring ALL covered individuals and entities to re-file any exemptions they qualify for. All previously-filed exemptions have now expired.

  • This applies to all exemptions, including the individual exemption and limited exemption for small agencies.
  • You should re-file for your exemptions prior to filing your 2019 certificate of compliance (due 2/15/19).
  • Any changes made in employer must be reported through both the Cybersecurity Portal and with the DFS website using the address change feature.

The New York Big "I" association has created resources to help you walk through the process they want to share with IIABSC members. Access the instructions at www.biginy.org/cyber.
