SCDOI Launches Drive Smart Campaign in April
Campaign resources challenge South Carolinians to Drive Distraction-Free

The SCDOI recently launched their Drive Smart campaign, which is a public awareness effort to challenge South Carolinians to drive without distractions. We encourage members to share their efforts and resources on their websites and social media and supplement materials with a similar campaign available on the Trusted Choice agency resource site. The campaign is in coordination with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Distracted Awareness Month in April.  (+ More...)

 

Big "I" creates summary of new health insurance disclosure requirements
Look for additional information as December effective date approaches

As previously reported in News & Views, at the end of 2020, President Trump signed into law legislation that included a $1.4 trillion omnibus government funding package including a section requiring health insurance producers and consultants to disclose their compensation and other information to group health plan sponsors. It also requires health issuers to disclose to individual health insureds the compensation paid to the agent or broker involved in coverage selection and enrollment. Our national association created a summary of the new requirements, which go into effect in December. The Big “I" intends to seek additional clarity and guidance from federal regulators concerning compliance with these new disclosure obligations, and the association will be providing additional information as the effective date approaches.  (+ More...)

 

Liberty Mutual and Safeco release Rise of the Digital Insurance Agency report
Research finds high-digital adopter agencies grew revenue 60% faster than low digital adopters, finds seven revenue-driving digital capabilities

Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance recently released a new research report, the Rise of the Digital Insurance Agency, that examines the connection between digital adoption and revenue growth for independent agents and brokers. The study offers a look at key trends shaping digital for IAs and is filled with actionable insights, including a surprising statistic on how much faster highly digital agencies grow. The Agent for the Future Index also uncovered seven digital capabilities that are highly correlated with revenue growth – giving agents and brokers a better understanding of which tools and tactics to prioritize on their digital transformation journey.   (+ More...)

ACT launches online agency customer experience self-assessment tool
Gain insight on improving digital interactions with customers

The Big “I” Agents Council for Technology has updated its Customer Experience (CX) Journey webpage to debut a free online independent agency CX self-assessment. It asks a series of questions regarding technology touchpoints across consumers’ insurance journey and provides a summary of improvement areas, as well as links to the ACT CX Journey website for best-in-class resources to implement the action steps. The self-assessment tool is housed on the CX Journey page, along with detailed CX guides, resources, and options for independent agencies. This is just one of many tools and solutions ACT provides in its mission to provide a candid, action-oriented forum to propel technology solutions for independent agencies.   (+ More...)

Spring Conference registration closes May 3 with NO ONSITE REGISTRATION
Conference to be held May 18-19 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, SC

Registration for the annual Spring Conference to be held May 18-19 in Columbia, SC, is open to agents and Palmetto Partners. Our Spring Conference offers valuable opportunities for insurance professionals to multiply their visibility, increase their knowledge, enhance industry resources, and engage with exhibitors, new contacts and colleagues. The health and wellbeing of participants will continue to be our top priority in holding in-person events, therefore adherence to state and federal health and human services guidelines and protocols will be followed. As a result, some logistical changes have been made to conference protocols and format. Attendees will pledge that they do not have COVID-19 symptoms or recent exposure. Face masks are required when not actively eating or drinking. Number of people at a time inside classrooms and exhibit hall will be limited as well as our overall registration.
