MEMBER BENEFIT SPOTLIGHT: RLI In Home Business
Service-based home businesses are thriving - make sure your customers are covered

A new newsletter item this year, our Member Benefit Spotlight aims to help you build your agency using the tools at hand through Big I membership by reminding you of benefits you may have forgotten about. If you need help finding the benefits most in line with the priorities of your agency, you can always contact our Director of Member Services, Megan Thomas (mthomas@iiabsc.com, 803-760-1227)

With many companies working remotely and restrictions on regular services, many are turning to home-based businesses. Also, many individuals who have become unemployed over the past year are finding new opportunities in small business entrepreneurship. Home-based businesses are susceptible to losses just like any other. Unfortunately many don't discover that their homeowner’s policy contains exclusions for business pursuits until AFTER they have suffered a loss.

IIABSC members have access to RLI’s In Home Business policy, which responds to the needs of over 100 eligible business classes on an ISO BOP form. It offers comprehensive coverage for business personal property (both on-premises and while temporarily off-premises), along with up to $1 million in business general liability protection. Loss of business income coverage and medical payments are also included. Premiums start at $150 with competitive commissions, easy underwriting and a self-rating application. Our RLI IHB webpage now includes step-by-step instructions on how to quote and submit new business online. Get started today.  (+ More...)

We are participating once again in the Trusted Choice GIVE Movement this June 1-8. This annual project led by our young agents encourages agencies, affiliates and partners to come together for a week of giving to benefit an incredibly inspirational and worthy cause. Together our donations have the potential for life-changing impact for children and families in South Carolina through Make-A-Wish South Carolina. If your agency wishes to participate in this campaign at a higher level, please consider becoming one of our TOP AGENCY GIVERS. Agencies that donate a minimum of $1,000 to the campaign will earn your agency recognition and inspire individual donors to reach various goals and "unlock" our top-level contributions. TrustedChoice.com launches upgraded local agency directories
Helping your agency connect with local consumers searching for insurance information online

As we all know, in the post-COVID era it is more important than ever for independent agents to be found, understood and contacted online. For that reason, our consumer website had launched a new and improved national independent agency directory on TrustedChoice.com. All IIABSC members have free profiles grouped by city with their locations pinned on the map. Those agencies who have taken advantage of their FREE Advantage Member Plus upgrades have expended profiles listing coverages and display as a verified insurance agency. Those members with paid Advantage profiles display as recommended agencies with expanded customizable profiles and consumers can request a quote. Google and Bing are crawling and indexing this directory every 30 minutes.  (+ More...)

Learn how to help students realize insurance careers are stable, rewarding and limitless

Our world is rapidly changing with emerging risks, and our industry is facing a looming talent crisis as baby boomers retire and less than five percent of Millennials have expressed interest in our industry. Insurance Careers Month is phase one of a plan to meet that crisis. While the 2021 February Insurance Careers Month will be virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic, we look forward to global conversations that will highlight how you can bring your authentic self to work in insurance, can create your own career path and help others climb, and how companies are emphasizing wellness and mental health and are making a difference.  (+ More...)
